The train rattled along the tracks, the rhythmic clack-clack-clack of the wheels a metronome to Elias's frayed nerves. He hadn’t slept well in days, his mind constantly buzzing with anxieties. He massaged his temples, the pressure doing little to ease the tension that coiled in his shoulders. He was on his way to meet Chloe, his latest flame, at a cozy bookstore. He pictured himself sinking into a comfortable armchair, but he'd not anticipated this.

He saw Chloe already, sitting at a small table, her head in her hands. Across from her, a man with a familiar shock of brown hair was leaning forward, saying something in a low voice.

As Elias approached, the man looked up, his eyes widening. "Chloe... who is this?"
